Betty is a founding staff member at Q300, a Citywide gifted and talented K-8. She teaches middle school science and mathematics, and has worked in all subject areas at the sixth grade level. Betty has a background in special education and works with many twice exceptional students. She draws from her own experiences as a gifted learner to help her inform her work in the classroom. This year she is teaching 6th and 7th grade science. In her work with gifted students she has created her own 6th grade science curriculum focusing on watersheds and ecosystems. Her classroom work includes field work in water quality testing, data analysis, socratic seminars, and primary text analysis. Betty also participates in Urban Advantage, a middle school standards-based science program promoting the understanding of experimental design.
